University of Notre Dame

  • Notre Dame was available for sale in the fall of 2008.
  • They were the first college to insist on having their product shipped directly to them and controlling the sale of the items on their own.  Touchdown Tableware did not have any, and did not handle any online sales of their pottery.
  • For the University of Notre Dame collection only one of the logos was used.  However, three different logos were considered.  (see below)
  • Thank you to Wally Haugen for the use of his photo. (above)
  • Notre Dame has been the hardest to figure out what has actually been produced.
  • It appears that Sunflower was the first option for the University of Notre Dame’s collection. It’s original project number is H-14874.
  • It may have been produced in the following shapes: jumbo mug (0149), bread tray (0412), large disc pitcher (0484) and medium oval platter (0457).
  • Thank you to Wally Haugen for the use of his photo.
  • The second option was Cobalt.  It’s project number is H-14874-1.
  • It may have been produced in the following shapes: jumbo mug (0149), bread tray (0412), large disc pitcher (0484) and medium oval platter (0457).
  • A classic rim luncheon plate (0465) was sampled (illustrated to the right), but we are not sure if it went into production.
  • Thank you to Patricia Antion for the use of her photo.
  • The third option was White.  It’s project number is H-14874-2.
  • We know for a fact that White did not go into production but was tested on a few pieces, as you can see the test / sample large disc pitcher in the photo to the left.
  • Thank you to Wally Haugen for the use of his photo.
  • The forth and final option was Evergreen.  It’s project number is H-14874-3.
  • It may have been produced in the following shapes: jumbo mug (0149), bread tray (0412), large disc pitcher (0484) and medium oval platter (0457).
  • Thank you to Gina Wolf for the use of her photo.
  • The illustration to the left is a rendering of the three different logos that were considered for the University of Notre Dame.   As you can see by the “X’s” the ND logo won the lucky coin toss.
  • Thank you to Patricia Antion for the use of this rendering.
  • Illustration to the right is the CLC holographic sticker for University of Notre Dame’s pieces.
  • The CLC is an American collegiate trademark licensing and marketing company.
  • Thank you to Patricia Antion for the use of her photo.

You can find more information about the individual pieces (IE: bread tray) on their specific pages.
