Oval Platters
Produced in the following colors – White, Cobalt Blue, Turquoise, Sunflower, Shamrock, Tangerine, Scarlet, Peacock, Evergreen, Ivory, Lemongrass, Paprika, Marigold, Flamingo, Lapis, Poppy, Slate, Sage, Daffodil, Mulberry, Meadow, Butterscotch, Twilight, Peony, Jade (? see below).
It was NOT produced in the following colors – Black, Rose, Apricot, Yellow, Periwinkle Blue, Sea Mist Green, Lilac, Persimmon, Sapphire, Chartreuse, Pearl Gray, Juniper, Cinnabar, Plum, Heather, Chocolate, Claret, Foundry, Sky
- These were produced at The Hall China Company, which The Homer Laughlin China Company bought in 2010.
- Marigold extra-large oval platters where produced between April 1, 2009 through September 1, 2010 (for 75 weeks) in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Fiesta®.
- It became available in regular production colors after the retirement of this piece in Marigold.
- Chocolate extra-large platters are known to exist.
- HLC announced that effective December 2013, that White extra-large platters would be taken out of production.
- April 2017, HLC took Shamrock out of production and Sage was added to the list in March 2018, then Ivory and Slate in March 2019.
- Jade appeared on the general retailers order forms and on the first Jade shape sheet (12/2022). With further research, the Jade platter was discontinued on 3/29/2023 and was omitted on the Jade shape sheet that was released about August 2023. So were they actually produced, we have not been able to verify that they have been as of 11-19-2024. If you hear of one, please let us know.
*The information that I have to date (6-2024) shows these platters as being discontinued. However, the square baker, rectangle baker and loaf pan were discontinued at this same time, but have been brought back. So, maybe FTC will do the same with this platter.

- These were produced at The Hall China Company, which The Homer Laughlin China Company bought in 2010.
- Since, HLC and Hall China were both sold to Steelite International in 2020, they are now being produced at the FTC factory in Newell.
- Clear glazed large oval platters are known to exist.
- The illustration to the left shows the different backstamps.
- You will notice that the Apricot on the bottom has an incised and ink stamp backstamp.
- This is not unusual and does not change the value of the platter.
- Occasionally you will find a molders mark on the back of the large oval platter as shown in the illustration to the right. IE “FG”.
- The illustration to the left shows a comparison between the Post 86 large oval platter (top) which has a dry foot (unglazed) and a Vintage oval platter (bottom) which, along with the Amberstone, Casualstone and Fiesta® Ironstone platters, all have a wet foot (glazed).

- In 1988 this platter was redesigned to a flatter bottom surface. The illustration to the left shows both versions. The platter on the left is the early version. You can see how small the base is which measures about 4” across and is deeper. The redesigned version on the right has a base measurement of about 5” and is much shallower. (see further down this page for a side by side comparison photo)
- These two illustrations (above and below) show the difference between an Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone (left), an early Post 86 (center), and the current Post 86 (right) small oval platters.
- The Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone platter will have a wet foot (glazed) where the Post 86 versions will have a dry foot (unglazed).
