  • These were produced at The Hall China Company, which The Homer Laughlin China Company bought in 2010.
  • 80th anniversary round platters are known to exist.
  • In March 2016 at the Chicago International Home + Housewares show, HLC announced that they would be making a new round platter to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Fiesta®. It was scheduled to be available to retailers by June 2016. June came, and no platters were released. Finally, on July 22, 2016 HLC advised their retailers that they were having problems with the production of the platter. They stated, “The 80th Anniversary Platter has had several mold re-tooling, glaze adjustments, and firing temperature adjustment review, without a successful consumer product outcome.” HLC advised, “…the 80th anniversary platter will not go further into production.” They also advised, “To offset the loss of the platters …” that they would be offering a special 80th anniversary large disc pitcher (see photo further down the page) to replace the round platter for their general retailers.
  • The platters would have made a great addition to anyone’s Fiesta® collection.
  • It appears some were close to being shipped to retailers as shown in the illustration to the right.
  • FTC donated one of these platters to FTCCO to be auctioned of at their 2024 conference.  Final bid was $500.00.

  • The 80th platter was designed from the 75th anniversary underplate for the soup tureen which is shown in the illustration to the left.
  • HLC did more than the large Claret disc pitcher for their 80th anniversary (below left).
  • There was an Ivory dinner plate (below center back) produced for the West Virginia Division of Culture and History Center exhibit.
  • A special 80th Anniversary birthday cake on a White luncheon plate (below right) was produced and sold only at HLC’s retail outlet stores.
  • Three ornaments (Claret, Shamrock, and Chocolate) decorated with a cupcake (below front center) were produced for the Homer Laughlin China Collectors Association (HLCCA) conference attendees who visited the factory outlet store during their 2016 conference. (Below photo courtesy of Alex Silva)
