It was NOT produced in the following colors – *Apricot, Lilac, Sapphire, Chocolate, Foundry, Marigold and all colors produced after Marigold (except as noted below).
- Juniper 2-cup teapots were sold exclusively through the chain of Saks stores.
- HLC announced in December 2007 that is item would not be available in Black, Cinnabar, Turquoise, and Plum.
- After the 2-cup teapot was discontinued, HLC started donating one 2-cup teapot to the Homer Laughlin China Collectors Association (HLCCA) to be auctioned during their yearly conference to benefit a local charity called Team MoJo Foundation. This charity helped underprivileged young people in the Southeastern Columbiana County (OH), Northern Hancock County (WV), Southwestern Beaver County (PA) areas.
- This is a list of the 2-cup teapots auctioned on their behalf.
Marigold – 2011 – however, Marigold 2-cup teapot bodies were sold during one of HLC tent sales. **

Lapis – 2013
Poppy – 2014
No teapot – 2015
Claret – 2016 – sold for $2,900
Daffodil – 2017

Meadow – 2019
Butterscotch – 2021
Twilight – 2021
Peony – 2023
* There seems to be some confusion about whether Apricot 2-cup teapots were produced or not. The 2-cup teapot was introduced when Apricot was being discontinued. Talking to numerous avid Post 86 collectors, none have seen an Apricot 2-cup teapot in person or even in a photo. However, Richard Racheter in his book “Post 86 Fiesta® Identification and Value Guide” states, “rare in Apricot” and the “Dishography” states, “ the item was likely produced in small quantities.” So, I guess the question is, “were they or were they not produced”? The research continues.
** A Marigold 2 cup teapot body with an individual sugar lid (illustrated below) was auctioned at Strawser Auctions on November 2, 2018. It sold for $500.00 + the buyers premium.

- HLC announced in December 2007 that this item would not be available in Black, Cinnabar, Turquoise, and Plum.
- Apparently, at some point between 2008 and 2013, HLC brought Black, Turquoise, and Plum back into production. However, in December 2013 they took White, Black, and Plum out of production.
- Then in April 2017, HLC added Shamrock and Claret to the out of production list.
- Sage was added to the out of production list in March 2018.
- Ivory and Slate was added to the out of production list in March 2019.
- At some point after 2017 Shamrock was added back into the production line just to be removed again in 2020.
- Twilight are known to exist.
- Sapphire are known to exist. One sold at Strawser Auctions in March 2016 for $1,150.00. (Photo courtesy of Strawser Auctions)
- HLC’s original plan when they were first designing this teapot, was to design it after the Vintage large teapot including the flat style lid. However, they had issues with the lids not fitting correctly, due to the shrinkage and warping of the vitrified clay.
- HLC had lids from the original styled Post 86 coffee server’s hanging around, so they substituted that lid onto the teapots as shown in the illustration to the left.
- These lids were only used for about 6 months before HLC redesigned the lid using the coffee server lid but replaced the finial with the vintage large teapot’s fluted finial. (Photos courtesy of Denyse Wentland)
- With the introduction of Pearl Gray (1999), to help with identifying Post 86 pieces from similar Vintage Fiesta® items, HLC added an embossed “H” as part of the backstamp to certain items. Colors released prior to Pearl Gray (1999) may or may not have the embossed “H” as part of the backstamp. (These would only be the colors that were in production at the time Pearl Gray was introduced.)
- As illustrated to the right, the Periwinkle Blue teapot (left) was produced prior to Pearl Gray and does not have the embossed “H”.
- The Periwinkle Blue teapot (right) was produced after the introduction of Pearl Gray and has the embossed “H”.
- FYI – I read on one of the Fiesta® Facebook pages how someone was questioning the glazing of the flange of the large teapot’s lids.
- The below illustration shows three large teapot lids all with different glazing on the flange. Whether the glazing goes all the way (left), or half way (center), or even half way with over spray (right) to the base of the flange, it does not change the function of the lid and are all acceptable lids.

Another Fun Fact –
- In the mid to late 1990’s, HLC wanted to expand the Fiesta® brand, so they contracted with outside companies to produce official Fiesta® licensed products.
- In 1997 Copco, one of these licensees introduced a metal tea kettle (illustrated to the left). It holds 2-1/4 quarts of liquid and measures about 6-1/4” diameter x 9-3/4” wide (spout to handle) x 8” height with lid.
