- Candy Fagerlin was lucky to obtain the first prototype AD saucer which was initialed by Jonathan Parry, HLC’s Art Director at that time, as illustrated to the right (Photo courtesy of the Candy Fagerlin family The Little Round Table)
- The illustration to the left shows both Post 86 and Vintage saucers reverse side. Notice, the Post 86 foot (left) is unglazed which is known as a dry foot. The Vintage foot (right) is glazed which is also known as a wet foot and has 3 sagger pin marks.
- The Vintage AD saucer will be stamped with an ink backstamp. It is not uncommon to find them without a backstamp at all, as shown in the illustration (right).

- Clear glazed saucers are known to exist. HLC will sometimes apply a clear glaze to the bisque piece, instead of applying a color glaze, to obtain more of a natural/neutral look.
- Like so many of the other Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone (right) and Vintage (center) pieces, the saucers will have a wet foot (glazed) and sagger marks where Post 86 (left) will have a dry foot (unglazed) as illustrated above.
Vintage – measures 6-1/16″ diameter x 3/4” height
Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone – measures 6-1/4” diameter x 3/4” height

- There are six different versions of the Vintage saucer. Did you know that? Yeah, I was shocked too.
- The next three illustrations show the six versions.
Version 1 (left)
Version 2 (right)
- Note the rings inside the foot and just outside the foot. Version 1’s inside rings are more spread out than version 2. Also, the rings outside the foot on version 1 has multiple rings where version 2 only has 1. These will not have a backstamp.

- Clear glazed jumbo saucers are known to exist. Instead of applying a color glaze, HLC will sometimes apply clear glaze to the bisque piece to obtain more of a natural/neutral look.
- When Fiesta® was reintroduced in 1986, this item was not part of the Fiesta® line, it was part of the HLC foodservice line. Occasionally HLC would glaze various restaurant ware shapes for their commercial customers in Fiesta® color glazes. The overruns or seconds would then be sold at HLC’s retail outlet store. Hence the “Fiesta® Mates” name was adopted. This piece was moved over to be an official Fiesta® shape in 1994.
- Like the jumbo cup, this item was not identified as a Fiesta® piece. It will have one of the numerous HLC ink backstamps as illustrated to the right, (right/left).
- As this piece is used in HLC’s restaurant ware division (Colorations line) and the backstamp is added before the glaze is applied, HLC decided not to change the backstamp to a Fiesta® one. However, in 1995 someone put a Fiesta® backstamp on the jumbo saucers instead of an HLC backstamp as illustrated (center).
