- Clear glazed jumbo cups are known to exist. Instead of applying a color glaze, HLC will sometimes apply clear glaze to the bisque piece to obtain more of a natural/neutral look.
- In March 2019, Shamrock, Ivory and Slate were taken out of the production line up.
- With the introduction of Twilight in 2021 – FTC added Cobalt Blue to the out of production line up.
- The illustration to the right shows the jumbo cup and saucer set.
- In 2013, the jumbo saucer (0293) was discontinued from the Fiesta® line.
- When Fiesta® was reintroduced in 1986, this item was not part of the Fiesta® line, it was part of the HLC foodservice line. Occasionally HLC would glaze various restaurant ware shapes for their commercial customers in Fiesta® color glazes. The overruns or seconds would then be sold at HLC’s retail outlet store. Hence the “Fiesta® Mates” name was adopted. This piece was moved over to be an official Fiesta® shape in 1994, but it is still also available to HLC’s commercial customers as a foodservice item.
- FYI, please be careful when comparing the foodservice and Fiesta® glazes on these pieces. Example: The foodservice Evergreen glaze is different from the Fiesta® Evergreen glaze. (see jumbo saucer page for an example.)
- The jumbo cup appeared on the 1996 Fiesta® shape sheet for the first time.
- Like the jumbo saucer, this item was not identified as a Fiesta® piece. It would have one of the numerous HLC ink backstamps as illustrated to the left.
- As this piece was also used in HLC’s restaurant ware division and the backstamp is added before the glaze is applied, HLC decided not to change the backstamp to a Fiesta® one.
- Occasionally you will find a molders mark on the base of the jumbo cup as shown in the illustration to the left. IE “S” (left)
- In 2020, HLC and Hall China Companies were sold to Steelite International. A new company was formed “The Fiesta® Tableware Company”. With this change came a new backstamp and the jumbo cup finally got it’s long awaited “Fiesta®” backstamp.
- Occasionally you will find jumbo cups glazed in earlier colors than Butterscotch that may have a Fiesta® backstamp. This does not increase the value of the cup.
- Even though the jumbo cup was already part of the Fiesta® line, as illustrated in this 1996 Tabletop Direct sales brochure, they advertised the jumbo cup and saucer with some of the other “Fiesta® Mates”. (Back row: oval baker, skillet. Front row left to right, sugar packet caddy, jumbo bowl, tower mug, denver mug, ramekin, and jumbo cup with a jumbo saucer.).
