  • Clear glazed cups are known to exist. HLC will sometimes apply a clear glaze to the bisque piece, instead of applying a color glaze, to obtain more of a natural/neutral look.

  • You will find double stamped backstamps on some of the Post 86 cups. This does not change the value.
  • The above illustration shows the difference between the Post 86, Ironstone, and Vintage cup.

Post 86 cup (left)
Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone cup (center) – measures 3-7/16 diameter without handle x 2-3/4″ height
Vintage teacup (right) – measures 3-3/8″ diameter without handle x 2-13/16″ height
(Amberstone/Casualstone not shown)

  • In the illustration below, you will notice that some Vintage teacups have a hand turned foot which makes it a larger foot (right). The Post 86 (left) and later issued Vintage teacups (center) have a smaller foot.
  • Did you know that there are 3 different versions of the Vintage teacup? The below illustration shows the three versions as stated below.
Version 1 (left) has rings and a flat bottom (about the size of a quarter) on the inside of the cup (1936-1937).
Version 2 (center) has rings on the inside of the cup (1937 to early 1960’s).
Version 3 (right) has no rings on the inside of the cup (early 1960’s on).
