  • This bowl is the jumbo cup without the handle. It fits nicely on the jumbo saucer for a great soup and crackers set.
  • Collectors sometimes call this bowl a “chili” bowl.
  • Foundry jumbo bowls were added to the line in 2016.
  • In March 2019, Shamrock, Ivory and Slate were taken out of the production line up.
  • In early 2021 Cobalt Blue was added to the out of production line up.
  • When Fiesta® was reintroduced in 1986, this bowl was not part of the Fiesta® line, it was part of the HLC foodservice line. Occasionally HLC would glaze various restaurant ware shapes for their commercial customers in Fiesta® color glazes. The overruns or seconds would then be sold at HLC’s retail outlet store. Hence the “Fiesta® Mates” name was adopted.
  • This piece was moved over to be an official Fiesta® shape in 1994, but it was still also available to HLC’s commercial customers as a foodservice item.
  • The bowl appeared on the 1996 Fiesta® shape sheet for the first time.
  • As stated above, this item was not identified as a Fiesta® piece. Even after it appeared as an official Fiesta® piece the backstamp did not change to a Fiesta® backstamp. It would have one of the numerous HLC ink backstamps as illustrated to the right. As this piece was used in HLC’s restaurant ware division and the backstamp is added before the glaze is applied, HLC decided not to change the backstamp to a Fiesta® one.
  • Occasionally, you can find a Fiesta® backstamp on these bowls in some of the colors prior to 2020.

  • In 2020, HLC sold the Homer Laughlin product line to Steelite International.  The owners kept the Fiesta® line and renamed the company, “The Fiesta® Tableware Company”.   With this change, came new backstamps which included the jumbo bowl finally getting a “Fiesta®” backstamp as illustrated to the left.
