- While researching this bowl, I noticed an oddity on the naming. Like the 5” bowl, the 6” bowl price sticker calls the bowl by two different names. One sticker calls the bowl a “Rice / Dessert Bowl,” where the other price sticker calls it a “Med Footed Bowl.” Maybe this could be the reason why people call these bowls by so many different names.
- In 2018 Dillard’s stopped offering the rice bowls online and made it an in-store item only.
- In 4/2019 Dillard’s began offering the rice bowls online again.
- Mark Gonzalez references the below Cobalt Blue bowl (center) in his book, “Collecting Fiesta®. Lu-Ray & Other Colorware” on page 34. He shows a clear glazed bowl and calls it a “Fiesta® pedestal fruit bowl.” The bowl got this name as it has a very small pedestal foot as shown in the below left illustration. It measures about 6” diameter x 2-1/4” height with an incised backstamp as shown in the below right illustration. The rim of the bowl is similar to the small bowl (0460). This bowl never went into production. Personally, I like it and wish it had been.
- The below center illustration shows the prototype bowl in front of a medium footed bowl (left) and a small bistro bowl (right) for comparison.

- While researching this bowl, I noticed an oddity on the naming. Like the 6” bowl, the 5” bowl price sticker calls the bowl by two different names. One sticker calls the bowl a “Sm Footed Bowl,” where the other price sticker calls it a “Small Rice Bowl.” Maybe this could be the reason why people call these bowls by so many different names.

- On October 26, 2011 HLC announced that this bowl was being added to the Fiesta® line and it would be available as an exclusive from Dillard’s in June 2012. In the statement, it was noted that it would be produced in Chocolate. Unfortunately, less than a month later, HLC announced that “Chocolate will be added to inactive availability March 1, 2012.” And that, “Orders will be taken up till December 31st, 2011 for delivery by March 1st, 2012.” I guess Dillard’s did not get their order in on time!
- January 2023 this bowl became available to all FTC’s general retailers.
