- Early on, HLC revised the sugar lid to a larger finial. The original Post 86 style (above center) was more of a button style, like the Vintage sugar bowl (above left). Where the current Post 86 version (above right) is more flared and larger.
- Sapphire sugars are known to exist. One sold at Strawser Auctions in March 2017 for $1800.00. However, in November of 2022 another one sold for only $600.00 plus buyers premium. (Photo courtesy of Strawser Auction)
Fun Fact –
- You will see some people selling the sugar bowl with the incorrect lid, so be cautious.
- The illustration to the left shows you two correct lids and one wrong lid. The wrong lid is actually the lid to the individual sugar bowl.
- The illustration to the right are both wrong lids. The left is the individual sugar bowl lid and the right is a coffee server lid.
- The illustration to the right shows a Vintage sugar bowl and lid glazed in Harlequin Yellow (left) which sold at Strawser Auctions in March 2018 for $190.00.
Vintage sugar bowl (right) – measures 5-1/4” wide x 3-1/2” height with lid.
Vintage sugar bowls have a dry (unglazed) foot just like the Post 86.

- With the introduction of Pearl Gray (1999), to help with identifying Post 86 pieces from similar Vintage Fiesta® items, HLC added an embossed “H” as part of the backstamp to certain items.
- Colors released prior to Pearl Gray (1999) may or may not have the embossed “H” as part of the backstamp. (These would only be the colors that were in production at the time Pearl Gray was introduced.)
- In the illustration to the right the Periwinkle Blue creamer (left) was produced prior to Pearl Gray and does not have the embossed “H”. The Periwinkle Blue creamer (right) was produced after the introduction of Pearl Gray and has the embossed “H”.
- A Vintage Blue (Cobalt) creamer sold at Strawser Auctions in March 2018 for $4,750.00 plus buyers premium. Yes, $4,750.00, that is not a typo.
