  • Sapphire individual sugars are known to exist.
  • August 2024 FTC announced that they were “retiring” this piece in all colors.  I’m not sure if future colors will still become available as an exclusive to FTC retail outlets and website or not.  Time will tell.
  • Two-tone sugar bowls are known to exist with a Periwinkle Blue outside and Turquoise inside as illustrated to the right.  (Photo courtesy of Donna Scallan)
  • With the introduction of Pearl Gray (1999), to help with identifying Post 86 pieces from similar Vintage Fiesta® items, HLC added an embossed “H” as part of the backstamp to certain items. Colors released prior to Pearl Gray (1999) may or may not have the embossed “H” as part of the backstamp. (These would only be the colors that were in production at the time Pearl Gray was introduced.)
  • The illustration to the left, show the Rose sugar (left) was produced prior to Pearl Gray and does not have the embossed “H”. The Rose sugar (right) was produced after the introduction of Pearl Gray and has the embossed “H”.
  • The illustration to the left shows that the original production number for the individual sugar was 0743. It was later changed to 0498.

Fun Fact –

  • You will see some people selling the sugar bowl with the incorrect lid, so be cautious.
  • The illustration to the right shows you two wrong lids.  The lid on the left is a 2 cup teapot lid and the one on the right is a coffee server lid.
  • The lid on the sugar bowl was redesigned at some point. The finial was enlarged to make it taller, so it would be easier to grasp. The illustration on the left show the original version on the right.
  • A White sugar bowl, like shown in this illustration, sold on eBay for $50.00 in February 2019.
  • When the Fiesta® individual sugar bowl was in the planning stages, HLC thought about designing it after the Amberstone/ Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone sugar bowl. In a 1986 Fiesta® brochure, HLC showed this Fiesta® Ironstone styled sugar bowl.
  • The illustration to the right shows an Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone style glazed in Fiesta® Apricot (right) alongside the final design used in production. (left). (Photo courtesy of Dennis Stasiak)
  • The illustration to the left, shows a Fiesta® Cobalt Blue glazed Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone sugar bowl sold for $275.00 in March 2018 at Strawser Auctions.
  • The following year in February, a White sugar bowl in the same style, sold on eBay for $260.00.
  • The above illustration shows the difference between Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone, Vintage and Post 86 sugar bowls.
  • Thank you to Donna and Bob Daniels for allowing me to visit their home and photo some of the above pieces.

Amberstone/Casualstone/Fiesta® Ironstone sugar bowl (back left) measures 3-7/8″ diameter x 5-1/8″ height with lid (3-1/4″ without lid).

Vintage egg cup – measures 3-3/8” diameter x 3-1/8” height.

  • The illustration to the right shows the Vintage marmalade, Amberstone marmalade, a Vintage covered mustard and a Post 86 individual sugar.
  • The Post 86 sugar bowl (right) was designed using the original Fiesta® Vintage marmalade mold.

  • Sometime in the late 1980’s HLC had a food service customer that wanted some product to match their Hall China Chinese Red items. HLC sent some bisque pieces to Hall for testing. It was just coincidental that the pieces ended up being Fiesta®. Hall applied their Chinese Red ceramic color. Note Chinese Red is not a glaze, but a ceramic color. The pieces were sent back to HLC for clear glazing and firing as a clear glaze needed to be applied over the ceramic coloring. Apparently, the project did not work, but a few examples of the project have been found over the years. (Photo courtesy of Denyse Wentland)
