Produced in the following colors – White, Black, Rose, Cobalt Blue, Yellow, Turquoise, Periwinkle Blue, Sea Mist Green, Lilac, Persimmon, Chartreuse, Pearl Gray, Juniper, Cinnabar, Sunflower, Plum, Shamrock, Tangerine, Scarlet, Peacock, Heather, Evergreen.
It was NOT produced in the following colors – Apricot, Lilac, Sapphire, Ivory and all colors produced after Ivory.
- Apricot, trays are rumored to exist.
- Lilac and Sapphire are known to exist as shown below.
- In March 2017 a Lilac hostess tray sold at Strawser Auctions for $3,000.00.
- A year later in March 2018, another Lilac hostess tray sold for only $800.00. (illustrated to the left)
- Sapphire hostess trays jump around a little and go for much less. In March 2017 one sold at Strawser Auctions for $700.00, a year later in 2018 one sold for only $300.00
- This 2-piece set with a small bowl (0460)(set item no. 0833) was advertised as a “Chip & Dip Set” by stores such as Macy’s, JC Penney’s, Bloomingdale’s, etc., as illustrated to the right.
- HLC sold this same set to their general retailer’s in an HLC box that was labeled “2-piece Hostess Set”.
- Juniper hostess sets were sold exclusively through Federated Department Stores (Macy’s).
- In 1998 Betty Crocker offered the hostess tray with a fruit bowl (0459) in their mail-order catalog, as illustrated to the left.
- In the fall of 2005, Betty Crocker offered the hostess tray with a ramekin (0568) in their mail-order catalog, as illustrated to the right.
