Produced in the following colors – White, Rose, Cobalt Blue, Yellow, Turquoise, Periwinkle Blue, Sea Mist Green, Persimmon, Chartreuse, Pearl Gray, Juniper, Cinnabar, Sunflower.
It was NOT produced in the following colors – Black, Apricot, Lilac, Sapphire, Plum and all colors produced after Plum.
- When the goblets were first released, they were sold as an exclusive to Bloomingdale’s.
- Juniper goblets were sold as an exclusive to the HLCCA (Homer Laughlin China Collectors Association). Shortly after HLCCA placed their order, Juniper was discontinued. In the words of Becky Turner, “The order squeaked in under the wire”. HLCCA received only 192 of the 300 goblets they had ordered. HLCCA limited orders, allowing only 2 goblets per club member, they sold out quickly.
- However, later HLC and Mega China also sold first quality Juniper goblets on their websites. It’s my understanding, Mega China bought their goblets directly from HLC’s retail outlet store and resold them on their site.
- Like the spoon rest, you will see the initials “JG” under the base of the goblet which represents Joseph Geisse, the chief modeler at HLC. You can see the letters at the bottom of the illustration to the right. (Photo courtesy of Ed and Wendy Volker)
- When HLC was designing the goblet as an exclusive for Bloomingdale’s, they also made a smaller version. HLC wanted to produce the smaller goblet as it fired more consistently. However, Bloomingdale’s went with the larger version. (Above photo courtesy of David Moore)
- Cobalt Blue, Pearl Gray, White, Periwinkle Blue, Chartreuse, Rose, and Yellow are known to exist in the smaller version.
- In October 2021 ELHSAA (East Liverpool High School Alumni Association) auctioned off three small goblets donated by FTC. They were Pearl Gray, Yellow and Sea Mist Green. So, Sea Mist Green needs to be added to the known to exist list now.
1.) Pearl Gray sold for $851.00
2.) Yellow sold for $845.00
3.) Sea Mist Green sold for $1,300.00. - The small goblet measures approx. 5-3/4″ height x 3-1/4″ diameter.
